INTRO
=====

When I came across Calmira, I thought it was THE best program ever written
for windows 3.1x. I made it my shell immediately. I have come across many
'taskbars' for windows 3.1x, but all of them were mere attemts to copy the
look and ease of the windows 95 shell. But they all lacked eachothers
features. One of the writers even had the nerve to charge big bucks for it,
and it didn't even have a group import function! Then came Calmira, it
simply had it all! A start menu and Explorer in one!

But I wasn't quite fond of the icons in the start menu... I wanted the
exact look of Windows 95. How exited I was when I found the "Customizing
your bitmaps and icons" section in Calmira's helpfile!

So... first thing I did was search through a CD-magazine's screendumps,
looking for win 95 icons, and I found many, but not all :( Then I started
snooping through my win 95 install files, there I found them all :)

I even installed win 95 to make screen dumps, so I could extract all the
bitmaps I needed :) and I am quite contempt with the results!

WHAT'S NEW?
===========

Not much really...

I once again reshuffled the entire icon library, but this will be the last
time! I now feel the library is as it should be, so this will be the last time
you have (again) to edit your icon settings CALMIRA.INI file. Any new icons
(if any) will be placed at the end of the library, so upgrading will be less
of a hassle. This will probably the last release for a while...

* Memphis banner removed

* Original Windows 98 banner included!

* New 'Calmira SR' banner in Windows 95 style.

INSTALLATION
============

Installation is quite simple. First, copy all the *.BMP's and the
W95ICONS.DLL to your Calmira directory. Calmira will automatically use the
BMP's it finds.

NOTE: There are six banners; banner95.bmp, banner98.bmp, banner31.bmp,
bannr311.bmp, bannerfw.bmp and bannersr.bmp. You have to copy one of them
to BANNER.BMP. (banner95.bmp is already copied as default.)

NOTE 2: All the icons are now stored in one DLL, so you can
thwow away all the seperate ICO files! I decided to include every Win 95
icon I had in this file, there are many icons you can use for file
ascociations, in different sizes (see below).

Getting the icons in the start menu involves a bit of work. There are
two ways of doing this:

1 You can program all the icons yourself in the Start Menu Properties
  dialog in Calmira. Put W95ICONS.DLL in the 'Icon from' field and browse
  through the icon selector to look for the right one.

2 The easier way: replace START.INI with the default file supplied with
  this theme. You WILL loose previously imported groups, but you can always
  re-import them... If you do it this way, also delete BMPCACHE.BMP and
  IMGINDEX.DAT to enshure Calmira will rebuilt the menu properly.

If you use the second method, you will get almost the exact win 95 layout,
with a few additions... the Favorites menu and the Log Off item (handy for
WfW 3.11 users on a network!) If you don't want these, simply delete them.

WE'RE NOT DONE YET...
=====================

Oh no, there are also the icons on your desktop, My Computer, the Recycle
bin... and in the Explorer. I have included these too :)

These can only be modified by editing CALMIRA.INI. Below are certain
parts you can paste directly into the file. First is the [Icons] section:

[Icons]
_doc=w95icons.dll(14)
_tfolder=w95icons.dll(83)
_tprog=w95icons.dll(84)
_compute=w95icons.dll(56)
_explore=w95icons.dll(23)
_windows=w95icons.dll(1) ;(0)
_msdos=progman.exe(9)
_finddlg=w95icons.dll(28)
_rundlg=w95icons.dll(71)
_floppy=w95icons.dll(12)
_hard=w95icons.dll(42)
_cdrom=w95icons.dll(6)
_network=w95icons.dll(58)
_ramdrive=w95icons.dll(69)
_emptbin=w95icons.dll(2)
_fullbin=w95icons.dll(4)
_internt=w95icons.dll(89)
_shutdn=w95icons.dll(76)
txt=w95icons.dll(88) ;(87)
ini=w95icons.dll(52) ;(51)
fon=w95icons.dll(36) ;(35)
fot=w95icons.dll(36) ;(35)
ttf=w95icons.dll(86) ;(85)
hlp=w95icons.dll(45) ;(44)
wav=w95icons.dll(92) ;(91)
avi=w95icons.dll(55) ;(54)
htm=w95icons.dll(90) ;(89)

(By default, the settings for the file extentions point to the 16x16 icons
in the library. If you want to use the 32x32 version instead, use the
commented out values instead.)

Apart from these entries, you can make dozens more to ascociate file-
extentions with icons (Look in the Calmira help file for details). The
W95ICONS.DLL file contains many icons used by Windows 95 in both 32x32
and 16x16 size. Just play around...

And to finish the topping... replace the [Start Button] section with this,
it will make the Start button slightly smaller and have the right font:

[Start Button]
FontName=MS Sans Serif
FontSize=8
FontStyle=Bold
Caption=Start
Width=54
Left=3

As you can see, I have thought of everything :) Now, restart Calmira (or
Windows) and see the results! Now you can really fool anyone nagging you
to "upgrade".

HAVE FUN :)
