************************************************************************* XingMPEG Player Installation File Verifier Version 1.4 Xing Technology Corporation 1540 West Branch Street Arroyo Grande, CA 93420 ************************************************************************* If you have created an installation disk (or installation directory on a CD-ROM) containing the XingMPEG Player version 1.4 installation files, you can use the batch file XMPV14.BAT to verify the integrity of the installation files. To verify installation file integrity, complete the following steps: 1 Exit Windows (or open a DOS shell within Windows). 2 At a DOS command line, create a new directory on you PC's hard disk in which you'll copy the file XMPV14.BAT and its related files, and make this directory your current directory; e.g.: md \tmp\xmpv14 cd \tmp\xmpv14 NOTE: This directory is referred to as "your verification directory" in the remainder of these instructions. 3 Insert the "XingMPEG Player Installation File Verifier" diskette into your PC's floppy drive and copy its contents to your verification directory that you created in step 2; e.g.: copy b:\*.* c:\tmp\xmpv14 4 Run the XMPV14 utility by issuing the following command at the DOS prompt: XMPV14 {path} Where {path} is the full drive and directory path containing the XingMPEG Player Installation files, e.g.: - If you have written the XingMPEG Player installation files to a a floppy disk in your PC's "b" drive, issue the command: XMPV14 b: - If you have written the XingMPEG Player installation files to a subdirectory ("XMPLAYER") on a CD-ROM disk in your PC's "d" drive, issue the command: XMPV14 D:\XMPLAYER The XMPV14 utility verifies the integrity of the installation files by performing the following tests: - Installation File Search - This test verifies that all required installation files exist in {path}; if one or more files are missing, an error is reported by the utility. - Installation File CRC - This test verifies the installation files' 32-bit CRC values (checksums); if one or more files have incorrect checksums, an error is reported by the utility. If no errors are reported, and the message "FILE CHECKSUMS OK" appears, integrity of the installation files is verified.
