Hi! This is the Beta 3 release of DosCDroast package. What is DosCDroast? This is a freeware collection of programs to use IDE/ATAPI, SCSI,PPM,USB,IEEE1394,etc. cd-writers under DOS systems (or WIN9X using real MS-DOS mode). DosCDroast Beta 3 is based on Golden Hawk's DAO16 v.3.9E freeware parts. All documents placed at the \DOC directory. The software is very untested so don't worry if not works correctly in your computer. I have two systems with IDE/ATAPI cd-rom readers/writers only. It's tested... This package can ---------------- - provides GUI for the operations.Simply run YOUR_CD.EXE and enjoy the easy-to-use graphical interface... - provides the possibility of the classical command line usage - imports files to a new disc - copy data discs in two pass or one pass (on the fly) - creates ISO image - writes ISO images to disc - reads a disc into ISO image file - reads bootable floppy disk to image file - creates bootable cdrom disc - finalizes a disc - erases CDRW (full or TOC only) - reads and converts CD audio to WAV, MP3 or OGG Vorbis - decodes MP3 to WAV or headerless PCM data - opens and closes the drive tray - plays audio CD using integrated player - splits smaller parts of DVD's .VOB files into HDD - converts CDi or VCD video disc to MPEG 1 format file - recover bad CD discs - calls the included (or the selected) file manager - provides safe shell for other CDR or CDRW related operations - creates backup disc of your hard drives - creates bootable floppy disc containing essential cd-writer tools to save data from crashed PC systems (if your Windows locks up...) - etc., etc., etc... Using the YOUR_CD.EXE graphical user interface ---------------------------------------------- Type YOUR_CD and press enter to start the GUI. It's a VESA driven interface which runs in 1024x768 8bpp mode. If your graphics card/monitor does'nt supports this mode, type YOUR_CD /G (+enter) and choose a lower resolution, or use the 800x600.EXE file in the \TOOLS\YOUR_CD directory. (copy 800x600.EXE to DOSCDRB3 directory or replace the original GUI) Mouse problems: this GUI needs a modern mouse driver which supports high resolution VESA modes. If you have mouse problems then update your mouse driver software with a newer Microsoft or Logitech (or compatible). Command line usage ------------------ -read the \DOC\*.* -use the ADDEV utility to load the selected device driver (e.g. ADDEV ASPI.SYS) -use the selected Golden Hawk or other tool at cmdline -then unload the driver using DELDEV (e.g. DELDEV ASPI.SYS) Memory problems --------------- "Abnormal program termination" error (DAO16 v3.9E) >>> not enough free DOS memory... (or the ISO file too short, less than cca. 600KB) This software is very memory hungry. The DAO16 tools needs cca. 586 KByte free conventional memory. The YOUR_CD.EXE GUI needs cca. 596 KByte to run using the existing installed device drivers only. If you will use the \TOOLS\DAO_OLD\ programs then you will have no DVD/R(W) support with smaller memory usage, so you can use the "driver load/unload" way, or you can select driver in the GUI OPTIONS page. The 3.9E tools (default) needs "memory wizards" (included) to save memory and you must use fixed ASPI driver installed from CONFIG.SYS file. See the \TOOLS\ and \DRIVERS\ for more. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please read all other .txt files ... If you found a bug please send me a message Horvath Istvan (About tech support: I have very little spare time to answer questions. Please write e-mail if really necessary... Use the popular web/mail lists/forums instead and ask experienced users for technical/usage info.) Website: http://www.freeweb.hu/doscdroast/index.html Enjoy the DOSCDROAST package! (and don't forget to get a CDR, CDRW, DVD-R, or DVD-RW device...) :-)))) Horvath Istvan Hungary Europe P.S.:This is a beta version!Absolutely no warranty!Use it at your own risk!
