======================================== DOS MP3 JUKEBOX The Turntable Emulator For Beta Testing Purposes 15-02-2001 ======================================== David Aranda 1-Introduction ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mp3 Jukebox is a Mp3, Mp2 (MPEG 1.0 and 2.0), Mod, S3m, Xm and CD-AUDIO player for Dos, that tries to emulate a turntable. Itīs able to do the classic vinyl stop effect, unlimited pitch, hand slaps, playing backward, and digital effects like realtime timestreching, pitch bend, pause, panning... and you can play sample .wavs (like voices, effects, jingles, etc...) while mp3/mp2 is playing. The original idea was make a application to play songs file format like mp3 / xm / mod... that could emulate a turntable, to mix and manipulate the songs like a vinyl. All the programs that mix mp3s or mods require that the user have see the monitor and to use the mouse, really I don't like this method, I want a program that can be used only with the keyboard without a monitor, because for a DJ that is making a session only want heard the music, manipule your mix table and theirs turntables, the Dj don't need to be seated, seeing a monitor to do a good mix or session. Also you can make with this program a simply mp3 player for your home, your pub or your car like compact disc player or cassete module of your HiFi. 2-General keys ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ h Help for the general keys Enter Search for songs on the drive specified in jukemp3.cfg and play a random one (If you specify 'x' as a drive the program will use the actual drive). If you put x like a drive the program will search in the current drive when the program has been executed. You can also specify the number of the CD-ROM drive, if you have several CD-ROMs in your system and you can play CD-AUDIO music from the second CD-ROM you must put the number 2 in the section "Number of CD unit" of jukemp3.cfg. In the section "Volumen" you can set the initial volumen of Jukemp3, by default it's set to the maximun (255). 7-Command line options ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ General sintax: jukemp3 [options] [songs] You can specify songs to play from the command line. Ej: jukemp3 c:\sound\track2.mp3 -> Play c:\sound\track2.mp3 jukemp3 c:\trackers\*.xm c:\sound\*.mp3 or if you are in windows, you can drag and drop song files to jukemp3.exe program. also you can use Winamp playlists: jukemp3 playlist.m3u -Options: -a If you thing that the sound volumen is lower than the Windows players use this option to amplify, but remember that if you use it you won't be able to play talkover samples while a mp3 is playing (Alt + Number). -nomp3 Any .mp3, .mp2 won't be inserted in the song list. -nomod No .Xm, .Mod, .S3m will be inserted. -fast Use it if you need a instantly seek without delays in mp3 files without this option when you use fast forward/rewind or go to a marked position, the player spend a few miliseconds that can dislike to the users if they are mixing. This option is not recommended, I'm going to improve the seeking functions, but for now this is the only solution if you need that the player go quickly to a marked point of the song. -vumeter Display a graphical vumeter while a mp3 file is playing 8-Samples ~ ~~~~~~~ You can play sample .wavs (like voices, effects, jingles, etc...) while a song is playing. You have to edit the file samples.ini, put one filename of the .wav in each line. To trigger a sample, use the keys ALT + assignated number of sample. 9-External player ~ ~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~ If you have an old computer like a pentium 90 Mhz, 486 100Mhz, etc... you can make a mp3 player for heard your songs in your home, pub... You will need a BOOTABLE DISK: 1-Make in Windows 95,98 a Bootable Disk (Control-Panel,Add/Remove Programs, Bootable disk) or you can format a disk and copy the system files to make a disk bootable by using the command: Format /s (Ms-Dos,Windows 95,98) 2-Copy the files of Jukemp3 (jukemp3.exe, jukemp3.cfg, sound.cfg...) to the disk. 3-If you are using a SB 16/64 perhaps you need to use the ctcm drivers you can download it from jukemp3.20m.com/download Copy them in the disk 4-Modify the autoexec.bat file in the disk adding the call to the program JUKEMP3.EXE. You won't need monitor,hard-disk,mouse... only insert this disk and a Cd-rom with mp3. 10-Author ~~ ~~~~~~ David Aranda Alonso (davidj@ozu.es) C/12 de Octubre N§4 2-A 47005 Valladolid Spain 11-Web Page ~~ ~~~~~~~~ http://jukemp3.20m.com 12-THANKS!!! ~~ ~~~~~~~~~ Jukemp3 would not exist without the work of this people: Shawn Hargreaves (Allegro will arrive long away) Ove Kaaven Guan Foo Wah (Modules by courtesy of his library JGMOD) Brennan Underwood and DJ Deloire (DJGPP Cool!)
