RUNNING THE PROGRAM IN 256 COLOR WITH ONLY 4MB OF RAM The installation program for "Secret of The Lost City" detects your installed memory at the time of installation and installs the optimum resource files for your configuration. For machines with 4MB of RAM, it will install the 16 color resources for the program. If you wish, you may also install the 256 color resource, however you may notice a decrease in game performance. To install the 256 color resources: o Insert disk #1 of the program and run "setup.exe". o Choose the "Custom" Installation option. o Choose the "256 color" option. The install will change the current command line of the program to then read LOSTCITY.EXE E2.BAP. Be sure that your current resolution and color is set to 256 before you run the 256 color version of the program. Otherwise, the on screen graphics will appear distorted. If you wish to change back to the 16 color resource: o Highlight the Lost City icon. o Choose "Properties" from the File menu. o Change the command line to LOSTCITY.EXE E2.BAP. IF THE PROGRAM IS VERY SLOW Close any unnecessary applications, that may be running. If you have a 33MHz 386 or faster processor, be sure you are running Windows in enhanced mode. Also be sure that the Virtual memory settings are active. To check the Virtual memory settings: o Click on the Control Panel Icon from the Main program group. o Click on the 386 Enhanced Icon. o Choose Virtual memory and verify the settings. We require the Virtual memory setting to be a minimum of 8000KB for the permanent swap file. o To make changes to the settings, consult your Windows documentation.
